CastIoT measure temperatur and humidity and use algoritm to calculate and monitor the concrete hardening process.
Challenge or problem:
Sensors for monitoring concrete in the casting process have been around and used by construction companies and concrete manufacturers worldwide for several years. The technology that has been available has in principle meant measuring the temperature and then wired or wirelessly sending the information to a computer where calculation via end curves (degree days, etc.) determines degree of maturity etc. The sensors used have been limited in the number of measuring ranges. When measuring moisture in concrete, the sensor has not started measurements as the function of coping with soaking has been deficient and the enclosure that protected the sensor elements in the harsh environment, which a casting entails, has also been a problem. The technology that has been used to transmit data wirelessly has previously been limited in range and battery time.
Solution:
The sensor delivers measurement data that is sent wirelessly. Using algorithms developed by the research department at the University of Helsinki, measurement data are processed and information on concrete recipes from the manufacturer and the hardening process are calculated.
Result:
Information about the demolition time of the mold or sliding mold speed can be read directly on your computer or mobile. The moisture measurement gives you answers when coating work can start and you also keep track of moisture during the warranty period.
