In collaboration with MölndalsBostäder and the technical administration in the city of Mölndal, we are carrying out a project where we perform real-time measurements of the amount of waste in environmental spaces in three of MöndalsBostäder's residential areas.
Customer need:
The purpose is to study how waste management can be made more efficient by the containers themselves indicating when they are filled and thus can be emptied, says Charlotta Brolin Sustainability Strategist and Mölndalsbostäder's representative in the project.
Challenge or problem:
The goal of the project is to evaluate whether it is possible to save time and money through smarter waste management and whether the impact on the environment can be reduced
Solution:
Our sensor technology measures the volume of the vessels and indicates how full they are. It generates data that can streamline waste management and thus make it easier for both tenants and employees. Our platform, which handles multiple data sources, uses machine learning and AI to optimize waste management. Usage patterns of and within the environmental rooms can be studied and evaluated based on real-time data, and emptying of the containers becomes more efficient as the resource utilization is more flexible and more quickly adapted to the needs of each environmental room.
Result:
- With actual data on how our environmental spaces are used and how quickly they are filled, we can adjust which vessels are used, how many or how large they should be and how often they need to be emptied. Our real estate workers can also receive signals even before the vessels are filled to see if they need to fix anything. In short, we get good opportunities to create a better experience of the environmental spaces for our tenants, says Charlotta. -We see that this is a highly current and prioritized issue both from a sustainability perspective and to create a good living environment for our tenants. Our ambition when the project is completed is to install sensors in the environmental rooms where any problems arise in order to be able to investigate them and quickly find a solution, says Charlotta Brolin
