Sub-Metering, or Individual Metering and Charging, enables you to measure and charge the consumption of energy and water per individual apartment. Meaning that tenants pay for the energy and water that they themselves consume. Implementing Sub-Metering through our platform also increases the property owners insight in several parameters connected to energy and water consumption.
Besides rectifying uneven consumption and collective charging of tenants, Sub-Metering will also allow for:

Challenge or problem: Consumption of water and electricity varies naturally among tenants in an apartment building. In a prefect world, this should be reflected in the individual tenants utility bill. The scenario for owners of none sub-metered properties is usually a collective utility bill, where all tenants pay the same amount, or pay based on the size of the rented space. Meaning that tenants can often be paying for energy and water that they do not consume themselves. Due to a lack of insight into their own individual consumption, tenants usually have few to no incentives to make adjustments to their usage patterns. This often leads to Deploying a sub-metering solution also increases the level of insight a property owner has over consumption related data coming from their buildings. Owners of non sub-metered properties typically lack insight, which can result in higher fixed costs across facilities, and a view of energy performance and consumption that is based on estimates rather than real-life data.
