KKB - Managing Temperature & Humidity in 2650 Appartments

Case introduction

KKB Fastigheter is a Swedish real estate company with 2 650 apartments and 30 000 square meter premises, wholly owned by Kävlinge municipality. KKB have a central role in the municipality’s housing supply and they offer a varied range of housing for tenants, located in Kävlinge, Furulund, Löddeköpinge and Hofterup areas in Sweden.

Challenge or problem: Managing properties is time consuming when managed manually and not cost efficient without utilizing today’s technology. The Public Health Authority in Sweden recommends that the temperature in an apartment should be between 20 and 23 degrees. The temperature should not be lower than 18 degrees under normal weather conditions, and not hotter than 26 degrees in the summertime.
Solution: KKB has installed 2650 Indoor temperature and humidity sensors. One in each apartment. The smart devices are connected to our LoRaWAN network which generates the communication between the smart sensors and KKB´s IoT Platform. Every 30 minutes the sensors send data that is presented in their SCADA environment. The complete solution enables them to: Monitor the temperature and humidity for each apartment Measure the average value per building Control and regulate the temperature for separate buildings Find abnormalities in order to fine tune the temperature and preventive maintenance
Result: The complete integration vastly lowered the energy consumption in the apartments and resulted in a better indoor climate for their tenants. This sanctions KKB to manage their properties more effectively and with less necessity of manual surveillance and maintenance.
